I’m Dr. Katie Figueroa and I’m a Licensed Clinical Psychologist based in Elmhurst, Illinois. I’m the founder and owner of Elmhurst Mental Health Services.

I graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois in 2015. My Clinical expertise is working with children, adolescents, and families in a variety of settings including therapeutic day schools, hospitals, and outpatient settings. I have five years of experience working at a Partial Hospitalization Program for children, adolescents, and families.  I also work with young to middle aged adults.

I have counseled individuals and groups, provided family therapy, supervised psychology graduate students, conducted presentations in the community, and provided parent support groups.

I hope to create a safe, collaborative, and supportive environment while providing insight and tools to help you manage stressful life events. In regards to family therapy and parenting support, I adopt a collaborative approach to best support the child to learn skills to improve thoughts, manage feelings, and navigate social interactions. I strive to create a positive, safe, and supportive environment for each family and client. I also utilize a relational approach and incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy to build skills and manage stressors.

Although I work with a variety of clinical issues, I specialize in mood and behavior concerns, anxiety, school refusal, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, life transition issues, parenting issues, and eating disorders. I also have an interest in helping families with children with special needs navigate their own emotional health and well-being.

I also have a clinical interest in working with mothers, fathers, and other caretakers who are experiencing the life transition of parenthood. Being a mother myself and my work in a Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program, I know the importance of supporting those during this sometimes difficult time. I am currently working towards my certification in perinatal mental health disorders.
